We provide a wide range of oral & maxillofacial surgical procedures, including:
Dental implants are the ultimate solution for replacing missing teeth. They are titanium, zirconium, or combination titanium/zirconium posts that are surgically implanted into your jawbone. The bone begins to bond around the post and stabilizes. Then, an artificial replacement tooth is placed over the implant. The results look completely natural, so people won’t be able to distinguish the implant from your natural teeth.
Northern Virginia Surgical Arts specializes in removing impacted wisdom teeth that are causing dental issues or have the potential to cause health problems in the future. We will perform an intraoral and radiographic examination of your mouth to determine whether or not the wisdom teeth should be removed. If removal is advised, our surgeons will perform the procedure with minimal pain or discomfort.
We help patients with abnormal growths or lesions in the mouth and face. We perform a comprehensive evaluation and if needed, 3D imaging in our office. When indicated, biopsies are performed to determine the microscopic diagnosis and imaging to evaluate the extent of the lesion. Removal of the lesion can be done in the office or in the hospital depending on the size, location, health of the patient, and other factors. For advanced cancer, a referral to a head and neck cancer specialist will be made.
If you have an improper bite, or your jaws are positioned incorrectly, you may be a candidate for orthognathic surgery, commonly referred to as jaw surgery. This surgery is used to correct issues with the jaw, and place it into correct alignment. Some signs to look out for include:
TMJ disorders can be painful and result in discomfort during sleep and throughout the day. Northern Virginia Surgical Arts specializes in treating TMJ disorder to alleviate your symptoms. Some of the most common signs of TMJ disorder include:
If you are dealing with certain birth defects or have suffered facial trauma, our reconstructive surgeons may be able to help you. Our services include:
Bone grafting is used to repair areas of the jaw with inadequate bone structure. This is vital for patients preparing to have dental implants placed. Bone grafting has made it possible for patients that don’t have enough bone structure to get dental implants, which would have been impossible years ago.
A cleft lip or palate is a birth defect that occurs when parts of the palate or lips do not fully form during the early stages of pregnancy. Instead, a gap is created in either the lip or the roof of the mouth (palate). This can affect a person’s appearance as well as their ability to eat, speak, or even breathe in some cases. Our office provides surgery to address both the cosmetic and functional effects of a cleft lip or cleft palate.
If you have suffered from facial trauma as a result of a car accident, physical altercation, work injury, sports, or otherwise, Northern Virginia Surgical Arts can provide you with the treatment you need to restore both the cosmetic and functional effects of your injury. Our doctors are warm, compassionate, and very experienced working patients who come to us with facial trauma.
Sinus lift & augmentation surgery is used for patients who have a thin sinus wall. When the sinus wall is too thin, a dental implant cannot be placed into the bone. A sinus graft or sinus lift makes it possible for patients with a thin sinus wall to receive dental implants to replace missing teeth.
In addition to oral and maxillofacial surgery and facial reconstructive surgery, we also provide several cosmetic surgical & nonsurgical procedures including:
